  28. The PAK68 was designed to be swapped against any 68000 proc. It's not ST
  29. specific and does not fit in the ST enviroment nicely.
  30. A ST specific board can do pretty much more.

  32. The main problem with the 020 cache is self modifying code.
  33. The external, write trough cache of the 16 MHz 68000 boards works well,
  34. the 020 and 030 internal chaches won't.
  35. As Alan said, some programs will loose on the TT; the reason is the
  36. cache.

  70. Rats! I looked up the possible seek rates last night, 6 msec is as slow
  71. as she goes.  It would also be hard to boot from a floppy with this
  72. mod (double - 16Mhz - clock for 1772 + formatter + "6"msec seek rate).
  73. Do you have to have a seek rate setting boot sector on every boot
  74. floppy and would that idea even work?

  87. Why do I want a TT?  Why do I complain?  Because my livelihood
  88. depends on it.

  90. I am about to take on another major scoring job- full symphony/4 movements
  91. that needs to be delivered in January.

  93. Unfortunately, the graphics of the ST is mighty slow when you start
  94. shifting a full score around on the screen.  This leads to mistakes
  95. if not a heart attack due to frustration.  I really want a fast 030.

  97. Buy a MAC?  no way... the ATARI software is better.  So I have to
  98. relegate myself to the ST... I have been holding off buying a Mega
  99. for a long time.. thinking the TT was just around the corner.

  101. I don't know why i thought that... perhaps its just a good marketing
  102. plan on the part of ATARi... get as many megas off the shelf for
  103. the OLD price before we introduce the TT...

  106. If the MAC had an ATARI emulator,  I'd use NOTATOR on the MAC..
  107. Some of us own a machine for its SOFTWARE.

  167. I have a computer eyes.... for $150 (brand new) or trade toward an old
  168. hard drive...  I got this compter eyes, and I have sent it
  169. back to the company twice.  They say it works on their computers.... but
  170. it wont work on mine.  So, it doesnt do me any good.

  185. This may be a little after the fact, but I did not think of this before...
  186. Some people out there have been looking for inexpensive replacements for
  187. their Atari mouse.  Well, there is another option that hasn't be mentioned
  188. recently.  The Atari 2600 trackball.  With just 4 wires added to the
  189. circuit, the trackball can be used as a mouse for the ST in the "TRACKBALL"
  190. position of the switch, but yet function as a joystick in the "JOYSTICK"
  191. selection.  The mod. works quite well and having the joystick portion
  192. functioning yet is a real plus.  The nicest fact is that the trackball can
  193. be picked up at Kay-Bee toy and hobby stores for about $10.  Not bad
  194. compared to the $50 pricetag for the replacement mice in the market.
